Dear Members of Local 470
First, I want to congratulate all of you on your decision to merge with Local 107. It was a courageous decision and the vote showed your true commitment to make a stronger more unified Teamsters Union.
Merging Unions is not an easy process and we have much work to do so this can transpire without too many problems. We cannot just flip a switch and everything will fall into place. It is going to take a lot of hard work to accomplish a complete merger.
The first phase is done and the Joint Council and the IBT have approved the merger. Now we need the help of the members of Local 470 to get the finances and property properly managed.
We have moved our regular meeting for the month of January to the fourth Sunday of the month (Jan. 25th) at 9:00AM. The meeting will be held at Teamster Local 107’s Union Hall, 2845 Southampton Rd., Phila, Pa.
This 9:00AM meeting will be for Local 470 members only. We need you to vote to merge the strike fund into Local 107’s General Fund and we will discuss other property transfers at this meeting. These are bookkeeping measures that require a membership vote. The first order of business will be a vote to allow the transfer of these assets. We will discuss the future changes and timetables for this implementation.
The regular Local 107 meeting will follow at 10:00AM. I am looking forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship and I know that together, we can make a difference.
Fraternally,
Bill Hamilton
President
