This Local has a long, storied past. Most anti-union employers will dwell on violence that has occurred back in the early days. What they fail to admit is that all unions struggled in the beginning and the effort to defend the union's very existence was challenged by thugs that were, in large part, protected by certain segments of the various police forces. We have witnessed a change and now, especially in Philadelphia, we have a partnership with the law and in fact, have a labor squad that makes sure the playing field is level.
